Śmieć (transcribed as Sjmiecj when using only the characters available in the font) is a font designed to be easily readable, both up close and from far away. The name of the font means "a small piece of trash" in Polish because I will be using it on my new trashcan stickers. This font is meant to be 3D printed as individual letters, so you can reüse punctuation as diacritics when assembling words from these letters.

When to Use Upper/Lower Cases

The font is meant to have an effect when the vowels are just taller lowercases. Start words from a capital letter, so that the sentence "This is a garbage truck" becomes "This Is A Garbage Truck". This is important when a word begins in a vowel. When a vowel letter (or a Y) acts as a consonant, use uppercase, so that the sentence "The royal queenie girl is practicing ventriloquism" becomes "The RoYal QUeenie Girl Is Practicing VentriloqUism". Silent vowel letters that separate two letters from influencing each other's pronunciations are upper cased, like the Spanish name "Miguel" becomes MigUel because the U separates the G from the E so that it's not "Mikhel". On the other hand, silent vowel letters of a different purpose stay lowercase, so that the English word "cane" is simply "Cane". Digraphs containing both vowels and consonants, like the "ti" digraph in "nation" and the "ar" digraph in "cart", use uppercase vowel letters when the digraph makes a consonant sound, but use lowercase vowel letters when the digraph makes a vowel sound: "NatIon", but "Cart".

My ‘white bear’ font is based on my set brief: ‘protection.’ The font style proposes the idea of an atypical font, creating a distorted and experimental look, differing from the ‘norm’. The inspiration for my font is based on the black mirror episode ‘bandersnatch’ where the white bear logo is shown, which presents the idea of gaming, glitching and an overall digital ambience in visual text, leading to my outcome of the square pixel font.

Being malnourished results in people fading away, they change and gradually become less and less. The majority being left with just their frail skeleton and their faint personality. Changes is based on the idea of people fading, the dark areas represents the faint personality that exists from a malnourished person. The dark areas taken from finger prints, literally show their identity in each letter.

I will just say these things: It is based on my print lettering. I am unable to explain this phenomenon, but it is super shrunken upon download. Just bump the point size up. The most attractive point size I found was around or above 30 pt., but find the size that works best on your screen.It can be used for English and German (I am fluent in both), however, on the German keyboard, the glyph " ´ ", " ° ", and " § " will reset to the next font. Just FYI. Viel Spass darauf! AAF

This is an alien script, which I am quite fond of creating, personally.I wanted something that was easy to type without having complex spelling rules. A-Z, simple. It is not based purposefully on anything, but I think it is beautiful to look at. It works best at 16, 22, and 48 pt. size. The other sizes I tried either bled lines together unattractively, or literally sliced off the tops of letters. The sun shape represents symbols that I didn't create equivalents for. Enjoy!

Type Russian letters via the AATSEEL phonetic layout. Also, a very blocky and Soviet-era font (at least for me...). I originally started this font with the letter И, and after struggling with the diagonal a bit, I found that I had accidentally created 2 И's of different sizes, so I had a capital form and a lowercase form. Then the rest of the alphabet came.

Fox Talbot Print is the first font I created with the use of Fontstruct. It's a font mainly designed for printing purposes, since the dots will create a moiré effect on your screen which differs on the size used. This, of course, doesn't exclude it from digital use! Spaztec was origanally inspired by the word "ornate". I began by looking at jewelry and "flourishes" on other fonts. After playing around with shapes and curves I realised i hadn't been thinking outside of the box. Ornate could have different meanings and take many forms. I then took interest in Aztec and Native American prints. I particularly liked the "hand crafted"/"imperfect" shapes and chose to comunicate the rawness in my typeface.

The inspiration to this is the classic IBM logo. I wanted to create something like it with a few additions. 1. Wanted more lines. 2. Wanted more jaggedy edges on purpose. Here, I tried to focus not only making more lines to construct the glyph but also to see how two glyphs will go together. I will post a few samples soon. I like how two glyphs, when put together are making a nice kern. It's good to see how mechanical yet traditional this is looking. Something that I wanted. Suggestions are always welcome.

Here is the fourth -- and final -- unique font to come from the ImageWriter II. I had a bit of difficulty trying to copy this from a standard printout using my ImageWriter II's without manipulation. Each character in the ImageWriter II's "Near Letter Quality" (NLQ) mode jammed a 16x14 character into what would normally be an 7x7 template. I wound up figuring out that the ImageWriter printed each character's odd-numbered pixel rows before printing out the even-numbered pixel rows. Ultimately, I caught a rather (un)lucky break after the printer would mess up after the odd-numbered pixel row printout. This worked out because I was able to separate the alternating rows, then I spliced them back together. Getting back to the font's attributes, ImgWriter NLQ, much like my previous ImgWriter entries, features characters that were not a part of the original design -- accented capital letters, the "fi" and "fl" ligatures, the yen and Euro symbols, fractions, et. al. The only character in this font that is not monospaced is the ellipses (or "dot-dot-dot"); this was made to be a double-spaced character to cut down on the white space between periods. Enjoy! -------- 2014.04.15: Small update includes combining diacritic marks; this was done to circumvent a bug in some Mac programs where the accented characters wouldn't appear correctly after typing in Option+N then N, for example. (Last updated on 2013.05.06: Includes a greatly expanded character set.)
