When be began the project on designing my own typeface, I had to design and create it relating to a specific theme. I chose to focus my design on the theme of 'Decay'.
From the beginning, I wanted to create typeface which represented a very basic idea of the the theme of Decay. I looked at all possible avenues that I could take into design consideration and ended up coming with some interesting concepts I could use.
I started looking at the idea of Decay throughout technology. I began taking photos as well as researching forms of decay in technology. The one aspect which kept coming up were computer keyboards. I found plenty of images of keyboards with decay, which then acted as a key influence for my work.
The idea for having my typeface created in the style of computer keys was quite unique to me. When in the creation process, I created the key design as well as the letter-forms which I had mapped out using graph paper. I was then to add the appearance of decay to the letter-forms afterwards.
I then started coming up with styles of decay I could incorporate into the letter-forms. I wanted to have a clear representation of the theme, but keep it in the style/representation of computers. i.e Pixels.
I messed around with one of the letter-forms with a basic pixel appearance of decay. When zoomed in, it didn't look like the standard I wanted it to be, but when zoomed out, the pixels came together to present the them in detail. I then went ahead and applied the feature to all of the letter-forms and punctuation symbols. The typeface was finally complete.

The script from the moredhel wordlock chests in the 1993 CRPG Betrayal at Krondor.
Note: The capital letters represents combinations involving the letter "L". (Capital "A" = "LA", capital "B" = LB", etc...) The character represented by the capital letter "L" is only used in instances where L stands alone or requires emphasis (such as at the beginning of the title "Lady"). The character for a double "L" may be typed using "@."

I cloned the ASCII SB font to use it as a basic template for assigning the bars for this code font. 0's are black spaces and 1's are white spaces. The bars are 8 spaces of 4x4 squares. there is no spacing between characters to keep the barcode look to it.This is a clone of ASCII SB

This is a new font I made just recently. I can be quite hard to read, and the punctuation can be far from the letters, but it is fun nevertheless. I am working on it to center the letters more.

As part of a project for my graphic design course at UWE, our brief was to create a typeface based on a theme. I chose vibration as my theme as I explored my theme I was drawn to line graphs which help record the frequency of sounds. I wanted my typeface to resemble this like it was on an ECG monitor. I also looked at John Skelton’s pinpression typeface which truly inspired my font, having continuous lines connecting all of the characters was very important and finding his work showed me that it was possible. This is my first attempt at creating a typeface and there are still alterations that need to be done.

This is the font commonly seen on the games Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and 2. Some glyphs may look odd (especially @) but that's how they are in the game.

The font used by Konami's MSX Classic, 'Nemesis 3: The Eve of Destruction', adapted to TrueType. The Comma glyph was added by me.
Thanks to Seahawk 0027 for giving me a reference sheet with just about all the glyphs i needed, plus having a full playthrough of the game on youtube for those that weren't on the sheet.
