Westmobster NRC — Magnetic Ink Character Recognition style

A typeface design inspired by the MICR aesthetics style.

I haven't checked and compared this against any of the others already in existence, but due to this it's obvious that this is going to share several resemblances with other similar fonts that are out there.

But I'm pretty confident that this isn't just your next Westminster or Data70.

Just to point out one of the unmistakable difference here for example, is the more distinct Sci-Fi characteristic, which is especially strong within it's uppercase set.

This sort of fonts have been strongly associated with computers technology, especially in the late 1960s and early-to-mid 1970s. Nowdays these lettering concepts are frequently used to indicate computer involvement in television series, films, books, music fashion and several other media.

In the 1960s, the MICR fonts became a symbol of modernity or futurism, leading to the creation of look-a-like "computer" typefaces that imitated the appearance of the MICR fonts.

It still requires some minor adjustment and tweaks, but the global concept is finished.

STF_VAQUUM 67 - A MICR style font

The font is loosely based on a screenprint named "Vacuums"
taken from a 1967 portofolio work by Eduardo Paolozzi.

It's not an accurate 1:1 copy, instead I tried to make it slightly more proportional version inspired by the original work. The font is done in all caps with some glyph alternatives in the lowercase string in order to slightly more accurate mimic the original print text.

The original print was most likely based on the "Westminster" typeface
that was designed by Leo Maggs and was inspired by the MICR(magnetic ink character recognition) system used on bank cheques.
Several other imitations of Westminster are out there, with most well known probably being the "Data 70" typeface.

Clone of Xenophobe.  Font from Xenophobe, (C)1987 Bally Midway Mfg Co.  Uppercase and numerals are the same design found in Discs of TRON, (C) 1983 Bally Midway Mfg Co.  Lowercase contains the small lettering used within the game, with alternates found in the More Latin section.  Letter "q" created by Goatmeal.

A display typeface that revisits the classic Randstad alphabet originally designed by Ben Bos in 1969 working at Total Design. Some changes have been made to a number of characters and letter spacing in order to improve the overal ballance and legibility. In other words, more a semi-recap rahter than a exact replica.

Recap of a retro computer type lettering that appeared throughout the 70's and 80's as the word "data" on various brochures, envelopes and memo's by Dutch multinational human resource consulting firm Randstad.  Most of which I guess were designed by Ben Bos.

A skinny, uniform, and asymmetrical typeface.  Could work well with signage and logos for the more technological projects.  Seems condensed in kerning, but the letters hold a large amount of empty space.

Alternate version of connect the bots, reminiscent of dot matrix printers back in the day...

Inspired by electronic circuitry, combined with a retro flavour in the structure of the letterforms, this display font is well suited to any computer / electronics or technology related application.

The word ‘systematic’ was taken as a starting point for development, and led me to draw upon a personal interest in the inner workings of electronics. The ordered chaos of all the connections running hither and thither is extraordinarily beautiful. 

An alternative version with the external connectors removed.

Inspired by electronic circuitry, combined with a retro flavour in the structure of the letterforms, this display font is well suited to any computer / electronics or technology related application.

The word ‘systematic’ was taken as a starting point for development, and led me to draw upon a personal interest in the inner workings of electronics. The ordered chaos of all the connections running hither and thither is extraordinarily beautiful. 

This font was created and used as a cookie cutter in the process of developing the connect the bots typeface.
