Recreation of the pixel font from Sega's "Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse" (1990) on the Sega Mega Drive.
This font includes a full set of hiragana and katakana characters. In the tile set, the dakuten and handakuten are separate tiles, positioned after the character they relate to. In this recreation, these characters are pre-combined into a single glyph.
Only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.

This is a cloneNintendo's "Super Mario World" (1990) on the SNES contains a maddening 5 pixel fonts. This is the recreation of the two small, 6px tall variants used for the game menus, end-of-stage stats, and the end credits. These have been spread out across the upper- and lowercase. Note the reduced-size 5px tall numerals, and the copyright symbol used on the title screen. UPDATE: in the game, the font has a 2px spacing to account for the outline. in this recreation, i opted to just go for a 1px spacing - if you do use it outlined, make sure to add the extra pixel for authenticity.

Recreation of the primary pixel font (used for the title screen and highscores) from Rainbow Arts/Factor 5's "Turrican" (1990) and "Turrican II" (1991) on the Amiga. Note the special characters mapped to "lightning" (U+2607), "skull and crossbones" (U+2620) and "black heart suit" (U+2665).
The same font - with a reduced number of special characters - was also used in "Mega Turrican" (1993) on the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, and the first "Super Turrican" (1993) on the SNES.

Guess what movie I just watched again? A mostly accurate font inspired by the movie "Total Recall" (1990). Consider it an experiment in using the 2x vertical filter.
**2017 08-13 Update** Taking advantage of the expanded brick-stacking minimums, I have modified the following glyphs: A a R r S s Z z 2 7 ? _ +
The diagonal leg of the R is still not quite correct; further attempts might be made in the future.
I have also removed the 2x vertical filtering. We are back to good old 1x filtering now.

An attempted recreaction of the Atari Games variation of the "Joystix", "Emulator" and "Emulogic" text fonts as used in-game and during tests from 1984 to 1998... Used in games such as Gauntlet, Xybots, Pit Fighter and Hard Drivin', among various others -- albeit with some custom deviations and extra characters NOT used in the actual text style itself... Also, upon further research, spacing between the actual letters vary by individual game (based on internal alpha tests)...

UPDATE: in the game, the font has a 2px spacing to account for the outline. in this recreation, i opted to just go for a 1px spacing - if you do use it outlined, make sure to add the extra pixel for authenticity.

Recreation of the pixel font from Realtime Associates/Bandai's "Dick Tracy" (1990) on the NES. Note the "half-star" character (used for the in-game health bar) has been mapped to U+2606 "white star". Only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
Recreation of the pixel font from Jaleco's "Saiyūki World II: Tenjōkai no Majin" (1990) on the NES, which was re-themed for the US market as "Whomp 'Em". A fairly standard font, but with a few nice quirks (particularly on the "X"). Only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
