Another tribute to the great Dutch graphical designer/pioneer "Jurriaan Schrofer".
This time I didn't do a straight foreward recap of a specific work from the great man, but rather had myself inspired by a number of his sketches and combined those ideas all into this type! (Nonetheless ofcourse still heavily inspired by..)
Here are a few of the original works I drawn inspiration from:
"A.S.C. COMMUNICATIONS, SEMINOTICS, SIGNAGE SYSTEM PTT 1975 (Dutch Post Office) , BEURS VAN BERLAGE, UNREADABLE ALPHABET"
"minecraft" (©MOJANG)
Each letter is made of 7 possible lines (a square with a cross). Sentances form bands, as if cut into a wooden stick or pole. Feel free to use for your conlags (just don't forget to mention me)! It has both English and Russian scripts (matched by sound). Used math to create: this script used minimum amount of lines per letter while making all have equal amount in total, so letters have 5 lines and numbers have 3, punctuation has 2. You can create your own efficient script by using a combination of "5 out of 7" letter parts. Sinmilar to my "Hex Seven" script.
Fourth recap in a series to attempt to re-create some of the works from late great dutch graphic designer "Jurriaan Schrofer".
I hope you like it.
This is a clone of STF_JS-SANS SQUARE (OUTLINE)This font is not official so you can mess with it and do whatever. I just wanted to make art out something I wanted to learn. This is more of a dedicated vent than a profit. Plus, I am not doing anything official or commercial with this. I just was bored and thought: Make blind people a font on braille.
DEDICATED TO BLIND PEOPLE
People every day are blinded or born blinded. Not in a sense of "you are stupid" type blind. They are actually blind and need symbols popping out as dots to read. They feel the words. This is known as Braille. I am kinda learning the alphabet of braille and its importance.
So, one day, I sat down and thought: Why not make a font for braille?
I know they might never see this or feel this, but I wanted to make something to show how I thought since every language gets their front, why not braille?
Using "Fractal" and several other sources for braille, here is my font of braille.
It is known as The DiRECTOR
Directs blind people to know where they are going and helps them dive into books and imagine worlds they might have not ever seen. The "I" is short to look like the hand touching the braille in our normal next just like I went and touch the text they read.
Mess with this and surprise your friends and learn braille similar to how I am and how they are by typing with this font.
Like I stated before:
DEDICATED TO BLIND PEOPLE
Imagine the world 2000 years later and the language and writing culture had much evolved to the format of simplicity, futuristic, and rigidity. This font was inspired by many sci-fi movies that set on super-human civilization with its own advance in language and cultural symbolism.
My ‘white bear’ font is based on my set brief: ‘protection.’ The font style proposes the idea of an atypical font, creating a distorted and experimental look, differing from the ‘norm’. The inspiration for my font is based on the black mirror episode ‘bandersnatch’ where the white bear logo is shown, which presents the idea of gaming, glitching and an overall digital ambience in visual text, leading to my outcome of the square pixel font.
My font is based on the Ministry of Transportation building in Georgia. The building itself is inspired by Japanese Metabolism architecture. Which is a moventment inspired by growth and adapabilty. I wanted my font to feel as though you could stack and change it just like Metabolism architecture.
A font I initially created for an album cover but later expanded into a full typeface. Thanks to J.R.'s sci-fi font for the inspiration.
