A dotty raster halftone exercise. This was fun to struct--visual effects occur as you zoom in and out with the viewing slider. Other nice things happen when manipulating brick size with the filter function. To be continued...

This is a remix of an old Rian Hughes font called "Darkside". I boiled down the geometry, added slightly rounded outer corners--and a whole new set of upper case characters. (Hughes’ font had only lower case).

Youve seen the likes before ("FF HardSoul Ultra" by Donald Beekman or "Loudine" at pintassilgoprints.com). Constructivism with extreme bulk. Ultra-fat retro letter shapes--good to use as "containers" for photos/images…

Typical generic digital/future/LCD style. Very modular, very common & very boring. But in fact quite useful.
There must be thousands of look-alikes out there but I had to make my own to get it with all the right details...

A condensed "blackletterish" exercise. Oldstyle with modern FontStructed conformity. Works for short words in big sizes. HEAVILY inspired by the calligraphic fontworks of Bulgarian designers J Jelew and S Simow. One could say it´s more or less a FontStruct adaptation of their fine "Grant Deco", I have no problem with that. I wanted to see the "Grant" glyphs a little less "tall and hansome". ("Estoc" is an old type of long sword, similar to rapier or foil.)

A heavy boxlike font. Exaggerated stroke weight and minimum space within the glyphs. An idea seen before ("Loudine" by Pintassilgo Prints, "GF Special 150" by Gigofonts), but I´ve tried to make something rigid-looking yet personal out of it. I kind of like thoose tiny miniature serifs, and haven´t had an opportunity to use them--until now...

Based on letters I saw in some fashion magazine many years ago. I found an old note with my hand-drawn sketches of it the other day, and realized it would be perfect for FontStruct. Based on a simple 3x6 grid and very few brick-shapes. Kind of organic and playful letters anyway..

A "deconstructed" exercise. I got the idea when I fontstructed in a grid that turned out to be a bit narrow. I could only place two of three horizontal lines where I wanted them, so I decided to see what happened if I simply skipped the third. The result turned out to be quite legible even though many glyphs had gaps where the important baseline should be. I especially liked the lower case letters. The concept is presumably not unique though...

Any cred for this font should go to Rian Hughes. It is more or less a carbon copy of his font "Data 90". Saw the font on the web and thought it would be suitable for a very small personal project I had going. Instead of buying a license, I decided to make my own personal replica in Fontstruct...

A fat face, in the same school as "MegaSpacer", but this one has more bulk and huge differences between thick and thin. And it comes with upper case characters.

Another retro space/data font. It is a remix of "Straker" by Rian Hughes. The Fontstruct brick concept reduces some of the creamy roundness usually associated to these 60s–70s letter shapes, but that doesn´t have to be bad.

Inspired by the fantastic "MICR" font set. And the Solaris font design from the nineties by Büro Destruct (ah, those were the days). Old but good ideas brought to Fonstruct. Fun and easy as pie.

A trifle, really. Easy modular build and basic, simple bricks. Heavily inspired by 224MKSD Black by Masayuki Sato. Despite the angles and edges, I find it quite legible. CCA licensing – feel free to clone and play around with this one.

Square meets slab. Inspired by "FF Tsunami" by Donald Beekman. My variant is more stiff and mechanic. Adds some alternative/lower case characters.

3×9 grid and rounded corners. A simple and modular concept but it allows surprisingly dynamic letter shapes. The result looks a lot like FF Marten by Martin Wenzel.

My remix of "Revolution" by Douglas Carter, 1994. I made it a bit heavier and added upper case characters. It´s a robotic deco style, very square and compressed, but slightly rounded inner corners (visible at large sizes) adds some life to it.

My first fonstruction. A variant of the basic 5x7cell digital font. Added some life to it by making all corners rounded. This gives the font a softer, "melted" approach. Plus, it looks better in big sizes...
