This is my first fontstruction, based on the theme of 'sharp'. In early development stages I looked at brambles and attempted to create a typeface that seemed naturally pointed, as opposed to industrially sharp. Also took cues from modern death metal typography. Currently no numbers or lower case due to time constraints. Any feedback would be appreciated! This is a clone

This is a font that I have designed during the first term of my Graphic Design degree at UWE Bristol. My typeface is based on the word 'decay'. My letters take the form of teeth, these teeth have been decayed and have holes, cracks and rot on the actual tooth and roots.
I developed this typeface by researching and taking photographs of rotten and healthy teeth. I then traced and made sketches from them. I then distorted the shapes to make up my type.
This typeface could be really good for use in a dental industry for advertising against tooth decay or things like toothpaste etc..

The font Flomotion is the outcome to my first semester at UWE, studying Graphic Design. The task was to create a full typeface on the font building website, fontstruct.com. The final design had to relate to a chosen theme, my chosen theme for this project was Motion in which I pursued the subject of optical illusions. I liked the idea of trying to create a false sense of movement with a font, taking inspiration from existing optical illusions with the same effect. This then led me to look at the 'Op' art movement of the 1960's, in particular the extensive work of Bridget Riley. Her use of black and white line giving the illusion of depth had a big influence on my work and I think my final design reflects this.

Sans Vs Serif was done for my Graphic Design course. It is built around the idea of chaos and fuses characters from Georgia and Futura Italic, one sans-serif, one serif.

This font was created under the title of 'decay' and explores the raw natural shapes of origami or paper folding. I wanted to create a font around ripped and destroyed paper while still keeping the simplistic forms of the shapes that appear within origami.

First time using Fonstruct. Font designed around the theme of decay, focusing on derelict buildings and areas where nature has begun to take over. Whilst loosely based on the somewhat derelict font, Times New Roman.
Welcome any feedback.
(work in progress; mainly letter 'R')

Designed as part of a university project. I studied ornate Circus and Carnival style lettering which often incorporate intricate detailing within the letters. I have attempted to blend a particular lattice pattern with blackletter-style letter forms.

In my view, the most aethetically pleasing member of the "Newbuild" family. Newbuild Featherlight has a nice clean modern and slim feel to it. I hope you like it!This is a clone of Newbuild

I am studying in my third year of Graphic Design at the university of the west of England (Bristol UWE). I've been away from fontstruct for over a year now, and over the last few weeks I've seen some of the new first year students using it a lot. I couldn't help but notice the new bricks and brick stacking features that are now available.
I have designed this typeface on a very small scale, to allow for the bezier curves created by the new bricks. I have had to use some creative brick stacking in order to get as much form out of the typeface as I could.
Some of the lowercase glyphs seem to have some similar resemblance to the modernist typeface "universal" by Herbert Bayer. Although "universal" has no uppercase glyphs, whereas mine does!
I am really pleased with this font, so thanks very much to fontstruct for putting in the new features.
When using this font, I recommend that you set the tracking to around -120 or so, and set the kerning to "optical" rather than metrics". The letters will set quite nicely under these settings.
Hope you like it!
- Joe

This typeface is based on the theme decay. It references the idea of how things decay when they are forgotten and so parts of each of the letters are missing. This links to the idea it is based on the courier font which was used in the typewriter. It shows a link that once something is forgotten e.g. technology such as a type writer it starts to decay. This typeface also has reference to the ideas of the bacteria that cause decay and so hence called prokaryotes which is the term used to describe this bacteria. This font can be used as a display font for many things including gig posters etc.

I was inspired by the word squishy.i started of looking at squishy objects,i did a few experiments with toothpaste and liked the idea of flow.I looked at Benoit Bodhin and his font Pipo to give me inspiration to keep flow throughout the letters without them actually being joined.

Here is my first fontstruction for a brief set on my Graphic Design course at UWE. It was originally based on the theme of repetition and the game Space Invaders. During development, it then started to take inspiration from the form of a digital display and began to look futuristic. I then carried on with this theme to finally end up with my font, Digitalistic.
Any feedback will be much appreciated.

This version of Global Village is also designed for the use in an E-book I am beginning working on as part of a third year university Graphic Design project.
This version shows how the typeface has been constructed as the individual bricks are slightly seperated from one another. This is a clone of Global village

This is my first fontstruction, for a first year univesity project. The design is based on the word ornate. I looked at the gothic architecture of the churches in Bristol. Studying the patterns and forms within the buildings. It is just capitals and some puntuation. Any comments welcome.

I am on the quest to create a modern widely usable font, with an interresting difference. The first stage of this journey began with my wild font "convention", inspired by the shapes of letterforms, found within architectural environments. The second stage of this process was where i created a font called "rebuild", where i have tried to tame the form from my font "convention". In this third font, i have made further drastic changes, to decide on these forms. Using these forms, i now intend to create a small font family called "new build"!This is a clone of Newbuild (demi)

Inspired by the word repetition, 'Rerun' was designed with the idea of having a zigzag baseline that would run throughout the typeface. I wanted to create characters that would fit neatly alongside each other. This is most predominate in the uppercase, which fits together in a tessellating pattern. This is a clone

Built around the theme of Decay, the main meaning behind this font is representation of Architectural Decay. The tight kerning and thin widths of each letter are to show the height of buildings when put together in skylines. The mixture of serif and sans serif letters are used as examples of both traditional and modern day architecture being brought together in the same space, although how despite the age differences, both old and new are prone to decay like everything else.

First fontface ever done for uni brief dealing the theme 'sharp'.
After some research i found out that a sharp is also a lunar impact crater and decided to build this font around this idea. The stripes are also a reminder of noise as a sharp is also a very high pitch note...
Feedback welcome!

After exploring motion and different types of movement, I was drawn to dance, specifically Jazz dance. Jazz dance became popular in the 1920's and "Jazz" is inspired by the posters that were used to promote different balls and dances at the time.
