‘Schablonenschrift’ by Albers 1920s.
‘v’, ‘w’, ‘x’, ‘z’ are broken.
I would have made a different ‘s’.

I created this typeface for a 'Found Type' project basing my designs around the word ornate. I initially focused on more of a traditional outlook, taking inspiration from classical architecture. However as my work progressed i began to take a more subtle response, studying more natural/organic forms as well as pattern design.

The finished product from the first communicating with words module at UWE in Bristol. My font is based on the word 'Ornate'. At first I started looking at Iron gates, Jewelry, but after spending about a week trying to make curves on fontstruct and failing each time, i decided to look at native american print and aztec design. I am a first year student at the University of the West of England, and our first assignment was to create a font based around a chosen word, mine being repetition. My research involved searching the city of Bristol for any signs of repeated patterns, and as I found, pattern is everywhere. I developed my findings into this bold and detailed font.

This Fontstruction was designed for my first module, 'Communicating With Words' at UWE. The brief we were given was to design a typeface using a key word, mine being 'ornate'. My ideas initially stemmed from architecture and then to the tilling within. I used elements I saw within the tile design and transferred them into my Fontstruction. This is a clone

This typeface is adopted of Songket from NTT. Songket is one of the traditional and ethnic fabric from Indonesia. Some of place in Indonesia have many kind of this fabric, but the reason I chosen this because I think NTT have a different pattern of this Songket

This typeface has been designed around the word 'systematic'. And every letter created is from a pattern/grid that I sketched out as a guide.

This is still a work in progress and all comments or suggestions are welcome and appreciated. I'm a first year graphic designer and this is my first time using fontsruct. This is response to a brief of designing a font under the theme 'decorative'. I'm really interested in Art Nouveau and the psychedelic art scene of the 60's and 70's,so it was a combination of this and looking into Moroccan patterns that inspired me. The font is designed to be used on a large scale and in small quantities. This is a clone

This typeface is based around the theme of 'Decorative'. It was designed for the project given to me during my first year of studying graphic design at UWE Bristol This typeface is inspired by nature and plants. The shapes of each letter were inspired by the outlines of leaves and calligraphy strokes. Whereas the pattern of this typeface represents the texture of leaves, stems, and vines. The font is designed for decorative and ornamental purposes only, such as advertising or poster design and is not suitable for use in body text as it would be difficult to read. This is a clone of All Composites saved in MY BRICKS 3.0

Following the theme 'Decorative', I explored the aesthetics of 1970's wallpaper. This lead to finding lots of primary and secondary sources, which I narrowed down to two patterns. I noticed a mixture of curvilinear and geometric patterns. At this point, I realised that 'Decorative' does not necessarily mean curvy and swirly, so I decided to attempt geometic, but with a sort of curvilinear feel.
My main struggle was creating a design that wouldn't require too much pixelation. Creating swirls of a large size just wasn’t achievable, without using a humongous grid to cancel out the pixelation. If I had known that Illustrator would display my font to the quality I was looking for, I would have used a slightly smaller grid so the inside pattern stood out more.
