'Nailed It' is a unique and exclusive display typeface primarily designed to portray a message of something to be wary of and to represent the dangerous. The font is physically made of various size nails and splints of timber, positioned to replicate an original font based loosley on a brush script typeface in capitals. Uses for the font could range from circus signs to hardware shops (the most common, obviously).
This fontrusction was created for the theme 'community'. Titled, 'Social Bubble' I aimed to represent how Covid-19 has affected our social lives. The reason for the different styles for each letter is to express how everyone's situation is different, however I did keep some consistency for aesthetic purposes. The bitmap style also represents how social interaction has become more digital due to people not being able to see each other face to face.
For my chosen theme Community (specifically biological community)
I decided to work with a worm/snake shape. Trying to figure out the final letter shapes during the creative process I got inspired by the snake game I'm sure everyone played on their old Nokia including me.
I observed the snake's movements in the game and created a typeface based on that. I would characterize my typeface as a simple combination of retro and modern at the same time.
