Aloe is a font based on shadows and geometry. The idea is to create the illusion of depth within the font. The concept all stems from diligence, at first I thought about the characteristics a diligent person has and wanted to represent this in a font.
A typeface first inspired by the theme word destruction which lead me to think of climate change and desforestation. After looking at small pieces of bark that had been broken off in the process of tree clearing I focused more on the textures created by the wood. I contstructed a 3D word from this idea by building plaster casts of bark. The shapes and patterns here created the base for the structure of these letters. I wanted each letter to be made up of small pieces, representing the broken bark; a side product of deforestation. Along with all the smaller patterns inside to show the many different textures that are on the wood.
Blueprint bold is the product of a strict system enforced to create a homogenous and structured font, designed to be legible and enforcing sans serif title. Blueprint as a typeface abides by the rules of ratio, with the height of the letterform always being twice the width, and the size and placement of the circle cut out being the same in order to create repetition and order. As a whole, this makes Blueprint systematic.
-" Constructivism's central idea is that human learning is constructed, that learners build new knowledge upon the foundation of previous learning" Phillips, 1995.
This is my first Construction based on the theme of "Rebirth". I chose this theme as I wanted to investigate how a country is "reborn" after a war or a revolution. This led me to read an article about graphic design ideas that came from the Russian Revolution. One of them was Constructivist typography-combination of contrasting shapes and sizes. I looked at the work of El Lissitzky and Alexander Rodchenko. From this research I began to cut out shapes of different sizes and began to construct letters- however, this idea didn't translate well in FontStruct. To widen my research, I looked at Constructivist and Soviet Brutalist architecture which my font was inspired by. It reflects buildings like the Polytechnic Institute of Minsk, The Palace of Ceremonies, and the Georgian Ministry of Highways in Tbilisi.
This is a theme developed from "Rebirth", a kind of new extraterrestrial typeface style living on Mars.
I was influenced by graphic and typeface designer Wim Crouwel, with a simple structure and a mixture with another typeface from the game Wolfenstein, avoiding additional strokes.
It also resembles a kind of domino.

Font based on given theme of Rebirth- Playing with idea of reconstruction of objects into new purpose. Letters combinations of objects were randomly generted to play into the rough, hand crafted aesthetic.
My intention with this font was to link it to "Rebirth", so I thought about computer viruses. I looked into glitches and how they distort and warp the computer to such an extent that you'd have to reboot your computer. In other words, the Rebirth of your computer.
Backslide is an experiment in creating a font that seeks to intentionally reverse one of the most fundamental aspects of modern European languages, that text needs to be read from left to right.
Although this font still types from left to right like a standard Western script, each letter is designed to (hopefully) be completely legible like its forward facing counterparts.
This is a cloneWith the given theme of Protection, I looked into the human immune system and the biological human features. Researching further into antibodies, I created a type face of the antibody structure which resembles the shape of a capital Y. Following symmetrical shapes and doubled lines, I created an alphabet that mimics the original structure of antibodies, with similar joints and angles.
Escalibur is my font that takes inspiration from medival weaponry. Mimicking the sharp blade like formations found on swords and axes during the 1400's, whilst also refrencing the type and imagery seen on playing cards, typically featuring symbols assosiated with chivalry.
This display typeface was inspired by the return to traditional Celtic iconography within the insular manuscripts of 6th Century Britain. Each letter is highly ornamented, incorporating chains of interlinked geometry that translate the flowing forms of Celtic knots into the grid based format of Fonstruct.
My font Slash, is based off of the theme "protect". I chose to base my type on different swords including fantasy based designs. The tip and edges of the letters are based on different sort of tips on swords. This gives my font a sharp and dangerous feel which links to swords.
My inspiration for this font was Tim Burtons typeface that was used throughout his films. I was also inspired by the old VHS tapes and the way they would glitch out sometimes making the typefaces look a little odd at times. I decided to make mine look a little off in some places with some letters to show the inspiration from this along with a little hint of Tim Burton's style.
My typeface is inspired by the style of object posters. I researched into how Before 1900 graphic design expression was rather pictureque and traditional. i looked into how advertisement has changed through time, fluctuation between simplistic and detailed. I researched into many typographers such as Lucian Bernhard (1910) his minemal illustrations and simplistic style a great inspiration. I wanted my typeface to reflect this style. starting each letterform with a square block and then chipping away the letterform. This made me open up to the idea of negative space, keeping my letters super simplistic and bold. my typeface is to be seen more as i image in itself rather a font.
I am a graphic design student at UWE bristol. I have created a digital typeface inspired by bristol docks, i looked alot at the hooks on the cranes and used the shapes from that and other machinery for the structure of my letters.
This typeface is based on the hand-painted names seen on the side of canal boats. The inconsistent, grainy texture of each letter is meant to represent the irregularities in using paint, for example the general wear and tear from the elements like chipped or peeling edges. This was my approach to the idea of “analogue” and a brief set to explore what that means. To me, in the context of the brief, analogue could be defined as possessing a nostalgic or "old school" quality- something replicated in an unauthentic manner in order to create a look-alike imitation of a time gone by. I also designed these letters to look like bubbles on the surface of water, hence the name 'Analogue Fizz'. I focused on the old method of transport in Bristol: boats.

This is a clone of 1st Draft of Analogue FizzFolded is typeface based on the idea of paper folding. The idea of the paper folding technique was inspired by my original theme of the life and mind of an introvert. The word introvert means a person who thinks 'inward', so therefore to start off with i played around with the idea of 'inward thinking' and came across the idea of folding paper as when folding paper things become distorted and changed and can also be seen as a inward action or to look inward when folding things in half for example. This later on led me to this typface.
I designed my font around the theme ‘Elegant’ studying the Crown Jewels that are owned by the British Royal Family. I focused on the structure within each jewel and particularly was interested in how the light catches on certain shards within the stones. My initial idea was to shade each of the sections using a different colour, however this proved difficult with the ‘Fontstruct’ software. Eventually instead of shading with different colours I shaded uses the small dots to create a stipple effect which I believe to still be just as effective.
My font theme is systematic, I aimed to make a font that was precise and but also referenced technology in the patterns of a motherboard and the pixelated style. The dots also help form the illusion of curves.
