On Reddit a discussion came up about the "Universal S", made up of straight lines, apparently there's been some form of it around the world for over 50 years, nobody truly knows where it came from.
Someone said they tried making other letters... I figured it'd be possible to do a full alphabet. And I've done it here in Fontstruct. Originally it was pixels only so it was jagged. I've now used the angled blocks to smooth it out.
There are a couple of cheats in play, e.g. extra wide M and W, and Q stepping outside the main lines. Was tricky trying to differentiate U and V so there are a couple of versions. Ultimately it's up to you, the user, to put these together as you want! Minimal punctuation as it's for headings and logos.
Included in the sample image is a silhouette of a move called the Backhand 1990, invented by yours truly as one of the founding members of Rock Force Crew in the SF Bay Area. Bust It!

This is a cloneA continuation of ideas present in Technokratz, with some imagination added for good measure!
This creates new ambigrams and ambiguous words. Here are a few that I found:
AND = ROD
FACE = FREE
FONT = FROM
FOX = HOT
FREE = TREE
INTO = TOMB
LAY = EAT
PHYSICS = EXISTES
SOLD = SAID
TECH = MECH/MEEK/NECK
THE = AXE
TOXIC = MOXIE
VICTORINOX = LAWSUIT (hah, just kidding)
WATER = TAMER
YEATS = TEAMS
Since I like this ambiguity so much, I will keep working to make letters resemble other letters even more! The real trick is finding these synergies while still preserving enough variability in forms that things can still be read flawlessly.
Embellished/pattern-filled Technokratz:
"A futuristic attempt at 'insular' English. The main design rule was 'make it bend where it shouldn't'. This could symbolize some cyber-dystopia-lord-dude's desire to stop at nothing, or something."
This design inserts a dot into every empty grid square. Off-grid empty squares don't count - there must be an utterly empty space of 1 square's size ON the grid. The dotting further imparts a unique identity to every letter.
Shall I continue this one? Let me know. :D
This is a clone of TechnokratzMy font is based on the theme 'Squishy'. I decided to produce a typeface with an uneven distribution throughout to reflect the irregularity which I found when researching squishy objects/type. When producing the font on Fontstruct, the smoothness of the letters was altered due to the use of pixels, which I thought worked really well and gave the type a nice style/effect and contrasted well with the smooth forms of the letters so I stuck with it. My inspiration came from graffiti throwups and from basic research which I did into the word 'Squishy'.
This font is inspired by the word 'danger'. It is based on the shift in perceptions on graffiti and how some view it as anti-social and therefore a danger to our society. Over time it has shifted to be classed as an art form which creates character on our streets; specifically in Bristol. It is inspired by the recent cleaning of the 'Bearpit' in Bristol.
