This san serif, textured, pattern, bold font is inspired by traditional Welsh weaved blankets. I was fascinated by the incredible pattern created by the traditional practice of blanket weaving. To create the structure of these characters I worked from researching weaving and knitting patterns and scanned it into the computer to embed the pattern into letters.

This font atempts to represent letters that look like what is called the "God's Eye" yarn project for children, which has to do with winding colorful yarn around two crossed sticks. I've decided to double the size so that the X and T have the same internal dimensions.

Initially made for NW & SW European members' languages this typeface has grown over time to include glyphs for most European languages. My friend Ray will be happy to see Welsh and my friend Johneen can write in Maori :)

Thanks to TCWhite I've found the 2E2E point to place my favourite punctuation/symbol correctly.

I've sent this to be rewiewed for Google Fonts. Having done so I'm stuck, I don't know how to proceed there: how can I get people to look at it, comment?!

Inspired by trying to thread heddles on a 4-shafter .........

The design uses a lot of nudging, a little stacking and composites, using some of the exciting extended capabilities of the FontStructor.

The font's name is Maori and means "weaving".

This font is as finished as I need to have it at the moment. I'll add a few more glyphs later.

I have made this font based on the overall theme of dangerous. When exploring this theme further I started looking at venomous animals and specifically at Funnel Web spiders. The intricate funnel shaped webs that they made started off the initial designs for this font. I looked at the different patterns that the webs can make and made a web of my own to priduce the shapes that inspired this font.

For my weaving website I wanted a novel font. So here is FRIVOLITE, the shape is based on the beautifully shaped shuttle used for hand weaving. Indeed the O and 0 and @ show perfectly the shuttle shape. The other glyphs were made to fit (as far as reasonable) into this specific shape. I know that frivolité is knotting rather than weaving, but this shuttle shape can be found in weaving, too. An alternate N and Z is on 'extended Latin B'.

The Resolution font is designed as a conceptual piece of work, complementing my research in the cognitive and graphic aspects of type. I began working with this form in the summer of 2011 by creating the symbols which would fit into a certain matrix and consist of as little square pixels as possible, thus approaching the conceptual and peceptual boundaries of legibility. After Resolution 3x4 I went further and designed Resolution 3x3, which is even more closer to the limit of legibility than 3x4. There is an important aspect in such minimalistic and conceptual approach–-it is the similarity of these types with the weaving patterns, which can be traced back to many archaic European cultures. The Resolution font makes a tribute to these original, pre-alphabetic systems of information encoding through weaving patterns. At the same time Resolution font is made to emphasize the importance of square pixel as a structural and conceptual limit of digital reality, which comes to an end when a certain resolution is reached. It applies both to visual encoding of information (with pixel as a graphic building block) and the structure of information proper (the true-false logic). Instead of creating the illusion of continuity, Resolution font is about being aware of the media and digital (and thus quantized) nature of an image which is falsely perceived as continuous.

Keeping to the sewing theme. I designed this to look like letters that have been either weaved, stitched, or screen printed onto the fabric to create a patchwork quilt effect.
This seems to work best using a sack cloth effect.
Although it works equally as well as a wire fence/ chequered steel/ tread plate / diamond plate flooring effect. In an ideal world there would be more empty weaves at the top and bottom of each character. I would also prefer a different style Q.
Due to comp rules I have had to omit the lower case, and others, as this just squeezes into the 32 pixel height limit.
All comments and criticism appreciated.
