Fancy Pantaloons is a typeface for when you are feeling a bit silly and pretentious without wanting to be too over-the-top. This typeface reminds me of old lettering on signs from the early 1900's. A combination of Victorian, Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and a bit of Techno.

As part of my "Found Type" project at UWE, we had to design a font for a theme that we chose. I chose Ornate. I was particularly drawn to this theme due to its relations with Biblical manuscripts and the architecture within Churches. I ended up combining the manuscript like lettering with features of Churches. I realised that this combination creates a great contrast between thick and thin, straight and curves. I found it difficult to create curves on font struct, but I rose to the challenge and created this. I hope you enjoy!

This was for first year UWE Graphic design course typeface project. i chose the word ornate and got inspiration from Leigh Court a grade two listed building in Abbots Leigh. the interior of the building is greek revival and is completely different in every room.

I am a first year student at the University of the West of England. Our first project this year was to design a typeface based around a word of our choosing. I opted for ‘Pompous’, as it stood out to me from the list. During the project I visited Bristol Cathedral several times, and spent time in and around Bridgwater, looking at anything that I found to be pompous, such as cast-iron work and Baroque architecture. My final design is influenced by Gothic typefaces and raised lead tombstones/plaques. The name ‘Delectatio Morosa’ is Latin for peevish delight, which I discovered whilst looking at different Latin phrases.

This font was based on the word pompous. It was created for a typography brief set in my first year at UWE Bristol. From the word pompous I was inspired to look at black letter fonts and ornate styles of decoration. Any feedback would be appreciated!
