This is my first FontStruction while currently studying graphic design at Bristol UWE. Lots of experimentation solely using paints; quick hand movements and flicks to produce a messy, unrefined effect. Working in less than 1 second for each letter (with real paints), used as reference. Inspired by East Asian calligraphy.

Where's the Top Pick, already? Genius! 10/10
Comment by Logan Thomason (xenophilius) 6th november 2010
Superb.
Have you thought of increasing the SPACE key using Advanced > View > letter Width. And then adjusting the green vertical line as desired. Usually half of a letter, but it depends on the font.

Comment by Mike Lee (badgerkins) 6th november 2010
what a great font. natural and organic. great technique. i imagine that you used a tablet to do this? and also some type of tracing technique? very advanced skills for a beginner :) well done.
Comment by funk_king 6th november 2010
also, thanks for allowing us to clone this and view your technique. incredible. i played around a little by changing your filter settings from 1X1 to 2X2 and also replacing the original brick that you used with the different circle bricks. this results in some interested moire effects which you may want to experiment with yourself. again, really nice work.
Comment by funk_king 6th november 2010
This is fantastic mate, definitely worth spending less time on Left For Dead.. great font!
Comment by adumdee 6th november 2010
@Fk. Lets see your results then. :-)
Comment by djnippa 7th november 2010
well..ok, since you asked :) i only did these (yes, more than one :) to see how changing the original brick would affect this incredible font. i'm sure these effects can be achieved using various graphics apps, but you know i always like to experiment and see the results of what if...

Stolen is a strong word for distributing a font under the CC-Share-Alike-Licence:

You are free:
to Share — to copy, distribute and transmit the work
to Remix — to adapt the work
to make commercial use of the work
Comment by cam.ill 11th january 2012
The only thing you must do is credit the original creator. You can't claim the work as your own.
Comment by riccard0 11th january 2012
moraly i fully agree, but i think under the share-alike it is not mandatory..this would be the cc-by-licence..no?
Comment by cam.ill 11th january 2012
It is. The attribution (or "by") is part of any and all cc licenses.
Comment by riccard0 11th january 2012
Ah, thanks..didnt knew that. But Is the mentioning of the creator mandatory for re-distribution only or also for the use of the font?
Comment by cam.ill 11th january 2012
this is amaxing...wow
Comment by hyunjung 26th february 2012
Very nice. Lowercase letters would be awesome, but I don't wanna rush you, and I doubt I could make them myself.
Comment by shelbymead 21st march 2012
I'm not understanding what shapes you used to get the brush affect? Seems all the ones on here available to us don't match up or seem compatible? And when you say quick movements and flicks, what does that mean, or how do you do that?
Comment by oceanamber 10th april 2012

It would be interesting to know whether badgerkins was asked whether this design could be used commercially.
