Brilliant, lovin your work, especially the descenders g,j & y 10/10
@nippa: Can't wait to see your Heavy Metal font! We should all bring our studded belts next time... ;)
@nicholasgross: You might be right about the c... The thing is I wanted to make as few letters as possible with a higher script connection like o, p, v, etc, in order not to break the jagged baseline too often. Lowercase c looked ok and readable to me, but I might have to look into it again. Thanks for the feedback!
@LexKominek: Something like this? (The thing with alternates and swooshes is that it really annoys me to put them on slots of other characters... Perfectionism in its negative way.:P) (And one more reason to switch to open type...)
I'm sure Nigel Tufnel would have liked the general feel of this font, p2pnut... ;) The Spinal Tap font BTW looks like it was made for a fontstructed revival.
And @afrojet: These ornaments where really just a style suggestion for LexKominek. Only two would be a bit shabby... So: there are definitely more to come!
I wonder if the FS developers are considering OpenType features.
I like it a lot, the g is so well crafted. The design is simple and very very strong. I can see many usage of this one... nothing but a 10
The fact that was done with pre-FontStruct-2.0 features shows how masterpieces can be also accomplished with the simplest tools.
@LexKominek: Some alternate letters with higher descenders/ascenders in the Gibson-logo style would be cool. I'll see if I can add them, but currently I don't even have the time to add the simpler ornaments...
@Upixel: Merci! J'attend toujours ton premier blackletter...;)
@Em42: I knew you would like this better than my other blackletter script with the treasonous bezier fakes... I am, as always, on your side. ;)
...and @geneus1: I do indeed strive for sophistication in simplicity, but that's probably less for reasons of inner conviction than out of pure laziness. Still glad it works sometimes. ;)
And thanks a lot for the Featured FontStruction! As always a great honor, and as always completely unexpected... :)
I'm sorry btw for not having worked on the ornaments and the alternates yet. I have moved to a new flat in a new town (without internet connection so far), and I've started working in your standard office job, leaving all the retrospectively much appreciated freedom of independent time-allocation that came with studying behind... In these first weeks, I've only had the time to occassionally peek on fontstruct.com to see what's going on during my breaks, but never to seriously start working on the extensions of this font, let alone a new font. Hope that will change sometime soon!
P.S. Now seriously, that's definitely a great fontstruction, I can wholeheartedly agree with it being selected as a FS staff Top Pick, as well as receiving a Featured status.
You guys just can't stop amazing me with your insane FS-ing skills! :)
I might "borrow" it for a flyer.
Nice Swirlies.
