Recreation of the pixel font used in Seibu Kaihatsu's 1995 shooter "Viper Phase 1" (or, "Raiden in Space" as it's often referred to). The same font was reused for "Raiden Fighters" (1996), "Raiden Fighters 2" (1997) and "Raiden Fighters Jet" (1998). Only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.

@redux - Granted there are only so many ways to arrange 8x8 pixels into recognizable characters, but isn't it amazing that almost 20 years later, people were still using/making variations of Lyle Rains' "Arcade Font" from 1976 (Atari)? A testament to its design perfection.

@Redux & Goatmeal : You both should join your skills and impressive knowledge to build a serious gamefonts encyclopedia, online or on paper, if such an big enterprise does not already exists.

@Goatmeal yup, i'm always infuriated (in a good way) when i see an oh-so-subtle variation in a game, and feel compelled to do yet another font recreation ;)

@Abneurone_Fluid_Types indeed, that'd be a fun (though sisyphean) task (in truth, i only started to document these more with dates and everything because otherwise @Goatmeal comes along and schools me about where the *original* version of a font was first used ;) )

@Abneurone Fluid Types - That certainly does sound like a lot of fun, but I'm with Redux -- would that I had more time for such engrossing projects!

@redux - ...and though I may not comment on every one of you font recreations, please know that I truly appreciate all of your efforts. You've got a (somewhat silent) fan here! :^)

I echo what Goatmeal said!
