CHANGELOG

@TH3_C0N-MAN - This has a very nice 3-D effect.  Might I suggest that the rear left corners be made curved instead of the current sharp corner on all of the characters?  The right rear corners are curved, so the rear left corners should match.

@Goatmeal. A nice suggestion, but how do you propose they achieve that, given the size of grid, bricks available, and the fact that your asking them to smoothly transition using a curve from a 45 degree angle to an horizontal line? I'd really like to know how you or anyone else can achieve that given the restrictions of this particular font? Please share the magic. :)

@TH3_C0N_MAN I agree with you. I had this problem when i try to make a italic font luckily(kinda), I have some other works going on so i can just pretend like i was too busy to make it instead of giving up on it XD.

Anyway I e-mailed Rob recently. I asked him about rotation and he respond "It's on to-do list" There's a big chance that we will have rotations in the future :D And 45% curve can be achieved easily

@Audio - I didn't say it would be easy.  ;^)

Because it is not able to be cloned (and I'm certainly not asking for that to change), I can't know and don't pretend to know the grid size, whether scaling is being used, or any other "limitations" that may be present in this design.

There is a curve on the right rear; unless it was designed to have a sharp corner on the left rear (which certainly might be a purposeful design choice), I only noted that the design does not appear to be consistent with the other visible corners or "illusions" of corners.  What the designer choses to do with this suggestion is his business.

@TH3_C0N-MAN - Perhaps some brick stacking with the new "arc" bricks?  That way, you can still have the white "rectangle" at the top of the blocks.  (The 1/4 circle likely used for the rear right corner might prevent that, intruding into the white rectangle.)

(Changed my mind about making a brick suggestion after my rather curt response...  Still doesn't mean I know what I'm talking about, however.)  ;^)

For visual balance the top left corner "ought" to copy roundness of other box corners. But I can see excitement in the visual if top corners were angled on boxes that hold glyphs with angled top corners. But this would result in a rather different font ;)

I just did a quick test and this is as good as I can get it in a 6x8 grid using 1x1 filters. As you can see some little bumps and lines not quite working 100%.
I think I may be able to get a slightly better result using 2x2 filters.

That corner looks good! I wonder why the boxes remind me of laundry baskets :D

Comment by Aeolien 26th october 2018

Took some serious brain power to achieve this, and now my head hurts! Still I managed to achieve a much better result using a 12x16 grid, 2x2 Filter, stacking, and composing of bricks. It's still not a perfect transition, but I'm happy with the result. :)

@Audio - That look great!  :^)

WOW. IT’S ONLY BEEN ONE DAY, AND THERE ARE ELEVEN COMMENTS ALREADY.

THIS WAS JUST AN INSIGNIFICANT FONT THAT I STARTED BY DRAWING ALL THE NUMBER CHARACTERS A WHILE AGO. YESTERDAY, I SPENT ABOUT TEN MINUTES DRAWING THE CAPITAL LETTERS AND SOME PUNCTUATION.

I DID PUT SOME THOUGHT INTO THE TOP LEFT CORNERS AND THE BOTTOM RIGHT CORNERS. TO ME, THEY CREATE AN OPTICAL ILLUSION WHERE THE STRAIGHT SIDES OF THE WHITE LETTERS APPEAR TO BOW OUT, KIND OF LIKE “MICROGRAMMA.”

MOSTLY, THE LETTERS ARE ON A 3×5 MATRIX.

BY THE WAY, I HAVEN’T RELEASED MANY FONTS LATELY, BUT I HAVE BEEN USING FONTSTRUCT. I HAVE ABOUT FORTY UNFINISHED FONTS IN MY COLLECTION.

NO, I DIDN’T GET THE “CAPS-LOCK” STUCK. I JUST LIKE CAPITAL LETTERS BETTER (LOOK AT ALL MY FONTS).

Comment by TH3_C0N-MAN 27th october 2018

ALSO, I WAS UNAWARE THAT MY FONTS WERE UNABLE TO BE CLONED. I CHANGED THE LICENCE, AND I WILL DO THE SAME FOR ALL THE OTHER FONTS THAT I HAVE SHARED.
