This is and experimental work to create a strong stencil face with a distinct character. It is a work in progress. Some glyphs may change. If you know prior art(s) very similar to this, please let me know.

I like this kind of fonts. Please, go on working on it, I find it very good and novel way to see the stencil mode.

Thanks for give us the sample in Spanish. We can read a few things in my language here.

FRODO GOING TECHNO ! Basic letters technified by intelligent blanks. I think that the zero number (my favourite in the set) gives the most "spiralized" effect, if you could apply this effect to other characters, this font would no more be a stencil but technomaëlstrom one

Thank you very much for your comments.

@elmoyenique: I'm having a wonderful period influenced by Spanish and Latin American culture and history. This particular font took shape while listening to Boikot. Very powerful music, full of energy, just the sort of inspiration you need for a rock solid stencil face. Thus, I decided to change the working title to Boikot Stencil, as a tribute to the Spanish group. Unfortunately, I don't understand the lyrics.

@neurone error: You've spotted the zero. The whole thing started with that glyph (UC O, and number 0). I thought, it was better to use this motif sparingly, only for the zero. Even if I wanted, I could not apply it to all characters.
Comment by Frodo7 18th april 2010
Ok for me for the zero alone. But as it has the same width as the O it could be also an alternate O (there are more sentences with O than zero so we could see more its stunning effect. The more I look at this font, the more it seems to have an animation effect.
Comment by Abneurone Fluid Types 18th april 2010
OK, you may be right. I put the same glyph as an alternative version of O to the lower case. The users can choose between the two versions as they see fit. Animation: I'm sorry, I have no time for such extravaganza. Be my guest.
Comment by Frodo7 18th april 2010
Frodo, I think you did not understand what i wanted to say. I did not tell you to make an animated sample. I told you that like this, in simple black and white, the whites in the letters gave a very dynamic sensation as if the eye focusing in the blanks recreated an animation sensation. Maybe a sort of very suble op art effect. Or it is my brain that bugs.

ne is right ... it does seem to shimmer (or perhaps it's because the time is past 2.00am).

What a strong font to experiment with - I look forward to seeing what develops. 10/10

And also, congrats, your new zero with the square dot and the 2 blanks is a better zero. But the old one "with 4 blanks, hence the new alternate O", that you did now with a square dot has become a fantastic alternate S ! Excellent improvements !

Wow really nice Stencil here !!!!

Thank you for your feedback. It is very much appreciated. I've changed a few things to make the whole design more consistent. The alternative glyphs may find their way to a softer version of this font. I'm not sure at the moment.

The V-A kerning pair is provided as a separate glyph at ^ (circumflex), specially for Fontstruct users.

@afrojet: Thank you very much for the Top Pick. The basic idea for this font has been around with me since last fall, but I never had enough time and the right mood to work on it before.

@elmoyenique: Thank you! I'm touched. Your small sample tells me two more things: I should provide a ready made pair of TA, and possibly FA in addition to VA. Secondly, I have to place the Spanish ¡ (inverted exclamation mark) a bit lower.

Curiously enough, no reflection came to the ID joke. Perhaps members are less familiar with the debate between intelligent design and evolution, and the famous court case (Kitzmiller vs Dover Area School District), and its numerous repercussions in the media. It's the end of the joke if you have to explain it.

Congratulations ! You are a heavy top picker! You seem to be on spot of the exact taste of Afrojet (And me, in fact at the exact opposite, but that's no harm, the important is elsewhere, when I look at some of my creations, not all of them, of course, and I have the feeling of completed achievement, that I wanted to go somewhere, and I went to that exact place)

LOL - You seem to be flagellating a deceased equine with that joke Frodo.

Congrats on the TP.
Comment by p2pnut 22nd april 2010
@p2pnut: Yes, you are probably right. I need something more recent, such as the Apple vs Adobe story.

very nice achievement with creating an original stencil font. there is great movement and visual delight in this work.

Frodo, Did you see the stencil font named Rising by Asbel here in Fontstruct ? I think you could be interested
Comment by Abneurone Fluid Types 5th may 2010
@neurone error: No, I didn't see Rising before. Usually, I do my homework and see all fonts accessible. I've made a query for fontstructions with "stencil" tag. This one had no such tag, and it didn't turn up in the search results. It's a remake of a font for Metal Gear Solid Rising, most likely commissioned by KONAMI.

Frodo7, you might be interested by the magazine Slanted... they had a special one on STENCIL fonts... Many designer from around the world with very original design... sure you can be in next time ;)

@Upixel: Thank you for the info. I just visited slanted.de recently, when Hunstruct by afrojet was featured there. I think, I missed that opportunity for the stencil issue, but I may submit some works there in the future.
