Revamped the lowercase characters: Nixed the flailing curve on the top of the a. Made the bottom constraint 3 blocks instead of 2. This helped clean-up a great many problems.

I have decided to try to keep all the lowercase characters mid boundry only 2 grids high.  That has caused lots of issues because of the constraints of the FontStruct block system, but it looks better as a whole despite the fact that some characters suffered (c, s, z) significantly because they really require 3 blocks.  Which is probably why I did what I did in 2014, but then the font loses its unity and character.

Because the grid is squashed (50% horizontaly), and the font is only 2 blocks wide (an I am trying to keep to that limit so that it will be monospaced), there are other issues, too.  Creating a soldus is a chore, for instance.

I decided to make a double crossbar N, and that looked cool, so I tried it on the others (H, M, W, Z, even X at one time), but there isn't enough of that to have it work, so I am going to change it back.

Well, I played with it a bit and added more of the doubled stuff.  I like it better, though the original charm is lost.  Just trying to be different.

Cool.  Thanks a lot.  I think you are right, when I doubled everything in uppercase, it was disassociated with the lower (they both had to have the crossbar/lower part in the first two grid squares), and at one time they worked together.  But change the rules and you change everything, including flow and interacting style flow.

@zephram, you know what, you are right, I need to tacle the lowercase and after thinking about it, it seems obvious that I should double up a part of it... so that's the plan.  In about an hour and 3/4 the United Bowl (IFL Championship) is on YouTube, though, so I will address it later.  But, you are absolutely, it needs to work together again.

OK... I guess I am happy with it now, but let me know if you see something I should address.  Or if you have a suggestion I should try. 

The c, o & s are rather tricky by nature, so I am just compromising because of what I can do.

It's looking great! Reminds me of mirrors, or maybe even past drunken experiences... :^)

My eye deals fine with the c, o, etc. The only thing that seems strange to my eye is "a" which is much taller than the others. Been there - "a" and "e" are tough to make small. Perhaps a rotated and modified "e" could make an "a" that looks as good as that one?

I didn't like any of my other 'a' ideas, so for now, I have changed it to this one.  Rotating and modifying the e?  Maybe, but I don't think it would look like an a when doubled, and that is the trick.

OK, Basic Latin is done.  Added Copyright, Registered TM, TM & SM marks.  That's as far as I plan to take this one unless it generates interest, or I get requests for supporting certain characters not currently available.  Another novelty font.

Hmmm... I was setting up an official distribution archive for this font with all the pertainent ifo when I realized that Gothina was cloned from Ogon Alpha by Electrica, and Orgon Alpha was under a Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike License.

So, I shouldn't be allowed to change the license type from Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike to an SIL Open Font  License, which is what I did.  

Now, I will change it back to that same CC License, but thought @meek might want to see this in case there is an issue where he wants to address this, because I think that FontStruct is supposed to prevent me from being able to change the license when I am cloning a font, it is always supposed to use the same license, right? 

I've actually noticed this issue when someone cloned one of my fonts and saw that it was using a different license, but figured he had changed it enough so that it may have been somehow allowed.

Just woww, what a great sample! It shows perfectly the 'offset' quality of  the horizontals; while the doubled lines of some glyphs are slightly disorienting the whole text stays legible and rather pleasant. 10/10

I seem to be running out of options with FontStruct, though.  Ever since I have gotten here, I wanted to produce some nice fonts, but my requests for new blocks have always fallen on deaf ears. 

It's the curves that make a font for me, and we just don't have enough choices.  I mean, if we make an o, q, B, S, c, d, b, g, or p, we are using one kind of curve (whether using full blocks or half block lines).  But, the curve for an O, Q, C, G, or D is radically different because it is so much larger.  Furthermore, we often have to manufacture the curves for the s, and yet because when we use the same small curve as we do for other letters, when we build it, it often comes up short.

These blocks are just not available in Fonstruct.  I have been requesting 1/8 chunk circle blocks since I got here, and I have been here for well over 5 years now.  Once I got those, I would've requested 1/12 and 1/16 block circles, too (Like I originally requested), where each block is 1/12th, or 1/16th of a half block line, or just an outer circle perimeter and there would be a complementing inner circle.

So while I am not leaving FontStruct, Fontstruct just becomes a wireframing exercise, because I cannot even fax in remotely what I need.  The end result is incomplete.  In order to fix it, I have to download the font and edit it with software.  That means that I can't upload the font to share on FontStruct, get critiqued, get helpful advice from you, @zephram, @winty, @tcwhite, and so, so many more. 

I just can't share my final works, so they won't be made public here, and I will wind-up with a bunch of wireframes that will remain private.

I still plan on finishing the ones that I have ideas for, that will work here, but within the constraints of FontStruct, I see that I can no longer share as much as I want to, and that is troubling because I enjoy the community so very much.

I just do not see the problem with extending the blocks available and providing larger curves, @meek.  Sure, there are broken straightline simulated big curve fonts that look good, but as a logo designer these are absolutely impossible for me to use.  I doubt any such font will be accepted by Google Fonts. 

I have plenty of projects in the works, so this is not a goodbye, but I can see it coming one day, so I am using this reply as yet another request to get these blocks, because my official requests for 1/8th, 1/12th, and 1/16th circles and curves has gone completely un-noticed (other than, "I'll tell them...").

Yes, I know it would be a lot of woirk, it certainly hasn't all have to happen at once, and these big curves would all be fine at the end of the block list.  But I feel there is a dire need for them, Rob Meek, especially if we are going to have decent options so that we can present decent fonts for Google Font submission. 

I am honestly tired of not having them as an option.

The font you have here is fantastic. It's a doubled effect that doesn't hurt or dazzle the eyes, which is something I almost never see in art.

I noticed I had some "history" in the description, and I don't really think that's a good place for it.  Yet, I still want to ducment that history, so here it is, reprinted...

Clone of Ogon Alpha by Electrica. This font is a work in progress. Electrica used a totally different scale than I am using, but the scale that the font was in presented certain challenges for what I had in mind. So eventually I abandoned tweaking the style and wound-up defining another one, based on the suggestions Ogon Alpha gave me. But as it wasn't working at one point, I abandoned it. Today (14th of March, 2014) I came back to it and decided to try to make a more complete font after destroying Electrica's Ogon Alpha. Though far from finished, as I still have spacing issues and a few other things to address, I added the numbers and some punctuation. When I cloned it, there were only capitals, and so that's what I have so far (I have not tried to tackle the lower case characters just yet). This is by a long shot a step backward from Ogon Alpha, but I need something to play with inbetween my bigger projects and this wound-up being that little thing to toy with for now. 3/19/2014: I'm starting to think that messing with this font was a big mistake. I added lowercase characters and some punctuation. Just walking away from it for a while. 4/13/2014: Revamped the lowercase characters: Nixed the flailing curve on the top of the a. Made the bottom constraint 3 blocks instead of 2. This helped clean-up a great many problems.

With My "Free" (or more precisely, my "Freeware") fonts, I always want to add my logo as the unknown character.  Finally accomplished.  I adjusted the question mark a bit.  I also toyed with the exclamation mark, but put it back the way it was.  I think I unpublished this one because I thought it needed kerning, but as it is a monospaced font, it does not.  I'm probably done with this one for a while, now.

Toyed with ! again and this time changed it a bit. Modified my extra Joined DP Trademark in the Specials to conform with monospaced width (it's actually sort of a non-used character).
