A simple idea, well executed.
Have you tried changing a,e,k(too thin, & short), s(too wide), v needs looking at as well. Here's a few ideas you may want to try.
Comment by djnippa 18th february 2010
I thicken the v slightly, and increased the SPACE by one block.
Comment by djnippa 18th february 2010
Using an alternative k & v.
Comment by djnippa 18th february 2010
I really like the second k in djnippa's first sample.

Comment by Captian Olimar (CaptianOlimar) 18th february 2010
Excuse me, p2pnut. I am not named zack. Okay?
Comment by Captian Olimar (CaptianOlimar) 18th february 2010
I retract all help, you've cloned and made no changes. Why bother!!
Comment by djnippa 18th february 2010
Someone is taking your name in vain then ....

Sadly, this is just what happens when well-intended communities become increasingly more popular.

There will always be a bored and/or small-minded minority that derive enjoyment from pointless and destructive behaviour.

The best thing to do, for all concerned, is to ignore them implicitly. We may continue as intended and they can divert their attention to perhaps more productive things.

Can the moderators help with this?

ok, it says this font is cloned from Mac Lab 001. if so, it looks like some changes have been made - this one looks heavier than 001. unless the cloning function is not providing the correct original font - this one looks closer to 070 or 071. in any case, CaptianOlimar does like to clone fonts and share them - some without obvious enhancements other than a name change. a crime? no. an annoyance? perhaps. but has anyone asked him why he does it and what changes he's made to better understand. his bio says he 9 years old. maybe he's a little mischievous, but he's far from being an anarchist. and he said his name wasn't zack, it's not. the pages clearly show his name as Zach. to a 9 year old, or anyone else for that matter, the correct spelling of one's name can be a big deal.

i don't think this really a big deal. if he was copying and pasting someone's glyphs into a new file and calling it his own, it would be. he's simply cloning and renaming. maybe his way of showing his admiration and making a proud association - but the original designer's name is still there. i don't think this is worth action by the staff. he's not really doing anything against the eula. and in light of his age, i would again suggest to the older and wiser designers here, to not ridicule, but to offer suggestions and correction if you feel necessary. this is a far cry from the situation that occurred here a few months ago, when an apparent new user was doing some big time self-promotion which quickly descended into bad taste and worse. this is a kid having fun, which is what i think we should all remember, is one of the basic things that Rob Meek wanted Fontstruct to be about.

actually i'm leaning towards believing he is really just 9. i do know that the olimar_king was another account he created for the collaboration he wanted to do. just like i created a different account for the FS Collaboration 1 project. still, this whole controversy could be viewed as pretty hilarious. as far as being 18 - i think most normal 18 y/o males' idea of fun would not be causing chaos on a font site, to put it mildly. if so, he should have our utmost sympathy and not our scorn :)

Sorry Funk King, I hope you'll understand why your second to last comment there had to be removed. As far as I'm concerned Captain Olimar did nothing wrong by cloning a FontStruction. However, "Looks like I got some people" as a reply to the effort and hard work DjNippa put in offering helpful solutions and good critique, is beyond poor form no matter how one spells their name or counts their years.

I vote we move on to more constructive efforts, better fonts, and above all let's remember to keep the conversation civil.

no problem at all. and i totally agree. although i thought he meant, 'looks like i got some people... interested in my font,' perhaps? but you are right, time to move on and continue to be constructive :)

I think you are being very generous fk.

"as far as being 18 - i think most normal 18 y/o males' idea of fun would not be causing chaos on a font site, to put it mildly. if so, he should have our utmost sympathy and not our scorn :) ... remember Zalgo? Someone else who came here just with the intention of causing a bit of havoc.

Letters are now made into djnippa's suggestions.
