IGNORE THE PREVIEWER!!! PLEASE do not judge this font by the previewer because the kerning is way off. Download and install the .ttf and the kerning should look much better.

IGNORE THE PREVIEWER!!!

This all started with the m and n. I struggled to fill in the rest of the characters with suitable glyphs. Some turned out good...some not so much.

Then, the fixing the spacing nearly killed me.

The samples show the kerning as-is...I didn't manipulate anything. The character map sample has a space between each character.

The m and n are great. There seems to be a mix of styles, with the a, b, d, g, h, p, q, r following the lovely curve from the m and n; whilst the c, e, o, s, have flat tops. Just a thought in passing :)
Comment by p2pnut 9th december 2009
@p2pnut You've discovered one of my problems. I couldn't get the c, e, o, and s to have rounder tops and bottoms with making them too narrow. Believe me, I tried, but the narrow versions looked ridiculous.

It's mmm mmm good.

Beautiful letters with style. The sample shows everything. I don't want to repeat what p2pnut said, some letters feel a bit different. I know this kind of dilemma and the process to make a face more consistent. The best remedy is time: you can revisit this work later and modify some bits. Mona Lisa was not painted in a few sittings, but in a long period. Master Leonardo was never quite satisfied with the result, and time to time repainted some parts of it. 10/10

@thalamic Thanks, you're support is always appreciated.

@frodo Thank you for the kind words. Maybe you'll be right, and a solution to some of the problems will come to me eventually.

Very promising, Aphoria!
I would play with the serified endings a little bit more: they are cool! I would use the top part of the P for the B and maybe widen the "belly" a little bit. You may use a serif for the c and s on the top rigth, but it is up to you.
I dig the @. Nice!

Thank you cayo and zen_killa.

I might play around with the serifs on some letters.

I've sorted the kerning for you. I think it reads a lot better now, although at such a small grid size, it was a bit of a headache to start with. Time for a much needed update.
Comment by djnippa 18th june 2010
@djnippa Wow! Thanks for going to the trouble. Your sample really illustrates some of the problems with this font...some my fault and some because it grid-based.

still a very sexy font. fun and sensual with a definite X factor :) amazing job with the kerning dj - you are definitely the master of manual kerning here at FS.

Comment by naveenchandru 18th june 2010
@funk_king Thanks mate, if you ever need help with the kerning, send me a message. So far Thalamic's FS dumb italic has been the hardest.

@naveenchandru Thank you for the compliment.

@afrojet Thanks for the TP, especially for an older font. It was a nice surprise to return to from vacation.
