This is my recreation of the pixelated large font used on the Sony Digital Handycam DCR-TRV17, made through carefully copying each character pixel by pixel from pictures of the LCD screen.
As Handycams mainly use all capital letters (minus "InfoLITHIUM"), those are the only letters included. While the letters, numbers, and a couple punctuation were copied correctly, others are either based on existing characters or are from a screenshot of the CCD-TR728E demo on YouTube (for mostly accented characters. The Cyrillic characters won't be included unless a screenshot of the second page of letters is shown).

This picture demonstrates how faithful this font looks to the original Handycam font, placed over a picture taken with the camcorder. The text has an outline and vibrant colors that imitate the camcorder's title text appearance.
@Xane123 - This is a wonderful recreation; another "lost" digital typeface has been rescued from the void! :^)
@Xane123 - You might even be able to reacreat the "outline" version by using very thin lines along the edges, using this solid version as a template. Cheers.

@Goatmeal Ah, I like knowing that someone else appreciates my attempts to turn the Handycam font into something usable on computers. I feel nostalgic about and like the way the text looks on the Handycam, so I felt FontStruct could replicate it perfectly.
Once I'm done adding all characters I plan to add to this font, I might create other variants, and one of those will be an "outline" version. Another could be a "smooth" version, where the round corner pieces are used.
I've decided to drop the "non-commercial" from the license because other fonts based on Sony products don't do that. I don't know if Sony would come after someone for using this font (since it's basically the Handycam display font), but just in case someone wants a font that resembles VCR text or something, they could use this.
