I was hoping you'd create the full font. A unique looking original font. Very creative.
Fav letters are B,S,2,S. Least fav are C,I,V,X and Z as it's the same as the 2. Good work.
@Audio: Hey thanks pal..
Of all people, you were about the last I'd expected to get this kind of comment from.
So, about this work, since I never intended to make this a full font it is still far from complete. But since it got more interesting than I had first intended, I will most likely add more characters within the following days.
Edit:
For 'V' I couldn't come up with a smooth yet curved solution like the other glyphs. I will crack my head over a better solution for this tho!
I will try to rethink 'C, I and X' as well. For 'Z' I already see a number of different solutions
Cheers
..
Maybe the 5 can be a 2 flipped upside down...
Can you create a 7/8th brick set and make a font with those bricks...
2x2 filters?
@7: Yes, filters are 2x2 and 0.75x0.75
UPDATE:
Both 'C,c' replaced with alternative. I placed a alternative 'i' in the lowercase slot. I did the same thing with 'X', but here the alternative glyph is located in the uppercase slot. I slightly tweaked 'V,v' as well but I doubt its even remotely noticable. Than I replaced 'Z,z' with alternative solution. And as last I partially redrawn '5' rather than copying or flipping another glyph.
So as you can see I kept the previous glyph versions for the letters I'm still not sure about (Y and X)
updated letter V as well.
Looks awesome!
this feels familiar

Yep the S from that (originally made for a Audi magazine) typeface was also used for the logo from (don't ask me which) company, but more less made me make those custom brick set in the first place!
STRIKE OUT!! I thought it was a bit too good to be true. I wish you'd have said what it's based on, instead treating everyone like an idiot. Bangs head on desk!
C'mon, apart from what I said, inpspired you're not gonna say this is a ripoff right?
I mean when you gonna look at this that way you can lead back nearly every typeface back to something, and you don't see guy's like Nick Curtis or Rian Hughes say whatever every single one of their designs was based on, right? Like I said, the concept was taken from that one letter "S" and everything else was done from my own point of view. As much as you wanna argue its not, that's fine, but your problem! To me they are pretty different.
If you'd put in the description that is was based on just the letter 'S' (which I don't believe for a second.) smells more like BS, then I would not have said "A unique looking original font.... very creative" in my first comment to you. Can't you understand that is what is so frustrating about 99.9% of your fonts! Everyone knows you are simply copying or interpreting somebody elses work. I use the term 'interpreting loosely, as usually your fonts only change from the way the original fonts looks, because of Fontstruct restrictions, and not because you're being 'creative'!
You have described this particular font as a "simple typeface I designed" when clearly it is not. You should have put .... It's based on this letter 'S' from an Audi magazine, and uploaded a jpg of it, so we can all see how you've interpretted it.
.... and just so you know Rian Hughes has a whole section in his book explaining exactly where the ideas for, or what his fonts were influenced by. With a keen eye for all things font related it shows numerous photos of old signage he took from his travels around the world.
I'm not saying don't copy, as that's how we learn to do anything.
THE TRUTH WILL ALWAYS OUT. SO PLEASE STOP THE BULLSHIT.
Play the game properly, and we will all get along. :)
As a matter of fact I saw this Audi magazine font once a pretty while back and after that I never saw it ever again pal. So in other terms I have never peeked at it once while making this. And about Rian (don't get me wrong here I respect the guy) I couldn't give a F* less about if he flew around the world due to his book. this didn't came upfront, but after he became a well established designer. But I'm not gonna argue if this is right or wrong. I'm just saying I didn't do a whole lot different than the majority of designers have done before me. Maybe one day when I have enough followers
(probably not since I copied too much)
but, maybe then I will publish a book as well to explain every single of my sources.
Will 'audio' go to the new Altamira caves and complain to the manager that the graffiti are copies and visitors shouldn't be charged entry?
Oh my god - I didn't expect that to branch out like that
I'm so sorry
Don't be mate, it isn't the first time he is lashing out at me!
Ha ha, since when did asking for honesty be considered 'lashing out'.
I actually thought we were getting somewhere, but nothing seems to be sinking in. It's shocking how totally unaware on how deceitful you are by not being upfront and truthful about your Fontstructions influences. Let's face facts - any 5 year old can copy, but I repeat - I'm not asking you to stop copying. I'm asking for you to be truthful.
Another thing you're saying which is complete BS is that my fonts usually only differ from the original font because of Fontstruct restrictions, and not because I was being 'creative'. Let's start with simply this one for example. I could just as easily have copied that exact font, and do so pretty much dead accurate if I would've want to. So don't try to strengthen your arguement with nonsense.
