It's a throwback. Far back. Like thousands of years. The lowercase is the Latin alphabet reverted to its far Phoenician origins and uppercase is an even farther Proto-Canaanite origin. All research on the evolution of these letters was done on Wikipedia, so feel free to debate my accuracy. -
