A typeface inspired by the theme 'systematic', developed through finding hidden shapes within geometric architecture and using them as building blocks for the letterforms. Sister font to - STACKED BLACKOUT

Shape pertains to the use of areas in two-dimensional space that can be defined by edges, setting one flat specific space apart from another. Shapes can be geometric e.g. square, circle, hexagon, etc or organic such as the shape of a puddle, blob, leaf, boomerang, etc. Shapes are defined by other elements of art: Space, Line, Texture, Value, Color, Form.

My typeface is based on a hexagonal form. Each letterform uses the six corners of a hexagon as a template. There is also a fair amount of contrast between the thick vertical lines and the thinner, pinching horizontal lines. These contrasting lines help create two different shapes; one inside the letter and one outside. The lowercase form is short and squat. In my opinion it is the most interesting component of the typeface. The uppercase form compliments the lowercase by remaining the same width and building up higher, creating a taller shape that remains hexagonal. The overall feel is futuristic and advanced; almost alien. This is certainly a display typeface, meant for an extraterrestrial newspaper headline.

This Fontstruction was designed for my first module, 'Communicating With Words' at UWE. The brief we were given was to design a typeface using a key word, mine being 'ornate'. My ideas initially stemmed from architecture and then to the tilling within. I used elements I saw within the tile design and transferred them into my Fontstruction. This is a clone

A font that provides several simple patterns and designs that could be used as bullets, page borders, text highlights, lines, drawings, etc. I'd appreciate any feedback on this design from my designer peers here.

An abstract typeface - produced as part of a study into cryptography, ciphers, and methods of hiding and concealing information. Different characters are used only to differentiate between consonants (incl. ascenders and descenders) and vowels.

The uppercase and lowercase letters can be told apart by the tops and bottoms of the letters. Punctuation marks and the space have a mix of both tops and bottoms.
