Recreation of the main monospaced pixel font from Ape Inc./Hal Laboratory's "Mother 2: Gīgu no Gyakushū" ("MOTHER2ギーグの逆襲", 1994) on the Super Famicom/SNES.
This is notably different from the proportional font used in the western release, EarthBound.
The font includes an almost complete set of hiragana and katakana characters.
Note the superscript double zeroes have been mapped to the em dash (U+2015).
Only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
Recreation of the main pixel font from Jaleco's "Rival Turf!" (aka "Rushing Beat", 1992) on the SNES.
This font is used for the main menu, intro/outro cinematics, and end credits.
The font includes an almost complete set of hiragana and katakana characters. A few of the katakana characters were missing in the game's tile set, so I've attempted to include custom characters in a similar style. In the tile set, the dakuten and handakuten are separate tiles, positioned in a line above their respective character. In this recreation, characters that use them are pre-combined into a single glyph.
With the exception of the few additional katakana glyphs, only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
Recreation of the latin pixel font from Wolf Team's "Arcus Odyssey" (aka "Arcus Spirits", 1991).
The alphanumeric characters are the same as Wolf Team's "Granada" (1990), but with different punctuation and special characters. The font remained the same between the original (on the Sharp x68000) and subsequent ports to the Super Famicom and the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.
Only the characters present in the game's tile set (on the Super Famicom) have been included.
Recreation of the pixel font from Winkysoft/Banpresto's "Denjin Makai" (1994), which was reused in the sequel "Guardians" (aka "Denjin Makai II", 1995). Only the characters present in the game's tile set have been included.
Megaten 20XX is a monospaced sans-serif pixel font recreation based on the original typeface appearing in the Super Famicom video game Shin Megami Tensei II, developed and released by Atlus in 1994.
The character set of this font was notably expanded with many additional special characters, diacritic variants, unique glyphs, and the like, each one of them designed to match the spirit and style of the original font design. Also included is the full original set of Japanese characters.
To recreate the original in-game appearance of this font, I recommend to choose font sizes that are multiples of 7pt and avoid any anti-aliasing or other font smoothing methods.
