Gorgeous, isn't it? This is a reproduction of a cross-stitch pattern from the French series of embroidery books "Maison Sajou". It dates to around the turn of the 20th century. After seeing such a beautiful, ornate pattern, I just had to convert this one to a font, a process that took several months. The design is made of intricate flower buds, stems, leaves, and check patterns. The design of the letters is similar throughout the pattern, however no two letters have exactly the same layout (for example, flower buds are facing a slightly different angle). Each letter is intertwined with a branch that winds its way up the letter, and features representations of leaflets and berries. The 'I' and 'W' were not present in the original design. 'J' doubles as 'I' and 'W' is a rotated 'M'. While I would love to make up numerals based on the current letters, it would be a daunting task as each letter is about a 100x100 size grid. I was thinking... it could be a nice concept/basic letterform to "pump up" squares! The upper and lower case sets are different, but not completely. Some of the glyphs only worked in one way... Exactly one year ago two of my cousins, Chris and Cleofe, got into a dealer-loaned Lexus for a trip after their main car was being repaired. Cleofe's husband, a CHP officer, was driving and their teen daughter was along for the ride. While on the freeway, the accelerator became stuck and they lost control of the car. As the runaway vehicle sped up to over 100 mph, all four passengers were killed in a fiery crash in the San Diego River. The loss was unquantifiably devastating. This immensely tragic event led my aunt to testify before congress with damning evidence that would initiate the recall of millions of Toyota vehicles. Requiemme Decorum was created on the way down to southern California for the funeral services. Clone of Seriface. The original Seriface was attempted without the additional angles provided by the new FS2.0 features. It was awful. The size was increased and faux-bezier curves were maximized via the combination of 1:2 filtration and composite bricks. Now its beautifully awful. WIP.
