I'm not too sure about having the serifs below the baseline and above the X-height. I think you could also make the word space quite a bit wider.

Mmmm... ok, let's see, I've reduced all the serifs to one point over/under x-height & caps height, and increased wordspacing three points, so it should be a little more legible. P2pnut, you know you're my hero, don't ya? :)

No heroes here - just folk who like to help when they can. I benefited from other people's help when I started, now I try to help - tomorrow it will be your turn to help newcomers.

I think the reduced serifs look better myself - but it is you that you have to satisfy.
Because this is quite a wide and open design I would probably take the word spacing a wee bit wider still - maybe one more square at a time till it looks balanced.

Extra space added.=)

It's always been quite impressive for me to see how people embraces design in such different ways. Reading opinions in the general forum about the old dilemma on selfexpression, craft and so on has been very entartaining and instructive!

In my humble opinion, type design is not about "le me" doing something for the crowd, but a helpful tool to create connections between meaning and the ways it's shared, between text and people's ideas and emotions.

So thinking in terms of "satisfying myself", or how should the font look in order to please me, is a little bit... awkward? XD. I mean, I see the point in that questions, but since I see fonts as tools everyone should be able to use at some time, I usually prefer to ask myself what would others use, better than asking in first place what would I like to see.

That doesn't mean I have no freedom. Is just that I prefer to do something I know people will use someday that something so fresh and innovative that would unlikely see the light.

That's the reason why I'm always asking for comments and feedback. For me, a font isn't finished until the most of his users are happy with how it works. I wouldn't waste my time in making a font no one but me will use, and if I do, what's the point in sharing it, if no one's interested?

I think the spacing looks good.

Your attitude towards design is great. When I said 'it's you that you have to satisfy' I only meant that, when everyone has had their say, it's you that has to decide what is nearest to the idea that you had in mind when you started the design process.

Keep up the good work :)
